"گراکوس شکارچی"

                                                                                                    

دو بچه روی کرپی بندر نشسته طاس می‌ریختند. مردی در سایة مجسمة پهلوانی که قدارة آخته در دست داشت، روی پلکان بنا نشسته روزنامه‌ای می‌خواند. دختری دلو خود را از جشمه پر می‌کرد. میوه فروشی پشت بساط خود دراز کشیده نگاهش به دریا بود. از لای درز در و پنجرة قهوه‌خانه‌ای دو مرد دیده می‌شدند که آن ته نشسته شراب می‌نوشیدند. قهوه‌چی جلو در قهوه‌خانه لمیده چرت می‌زد. زورقی به خاموشی سوی بندر کوچک می‌آمد. گویی به وسیله‌ای نامریی روی آب رانده می‌شد. مردی با پیرهن آبی از آن پیاده شده بود و ریسمان زورق را از حلقة اسکله رد می‌کرد. پشت سر کرجی‌بان، دو مرد دیگر سیاه‌پوش که دگمه‌های سیمین داشتند تابوتی را می‌بردند که روپوش بزرگ ابریشمی آراسته به گل‌های نقاشی و شرابه رویش کشیده شده بود و ظاهراً مردی در آن بود.
